Ray Ferraro tips his cap to Ryan Reaves & Mathieu Olivier: Leafs Morning Take

We labeled it as a potential trap game, and my word, were we right, or what?
For some reason, Columbus just has Toronto’s number, and unfortunately, that theme continued on Wednesday night at Scotiabank Arena.
At any rate, David Pagnotta filled in once again for Jay Rosehill as co-host on the Thursday edition of Leafs Morning Take. We kicked off the show by discussing Auston Matthews’ comments about the crowd following the Reaves/Olivier fight. For what it’s worth, we liked the captain calling it out. Sadly, Scotiabank Arena has been known in recent memory for its library-like sound. It’s so unfortunate. Anyway, in a video submission, Rosey shared his candid thoughts on the heavyweight scrap.
Then, we got into a full game recap. Adam Fantilli netted a hat-trick, Luca Del Bel Belluz had a goal and an assist, and just for good measure, James van Riemsdyk scored, too. Right to script, a Nobleton kid, a Woodbridge kid, and a former Leaf supplied the offence for the red-hot Blue Jackets. All in all, it wasn’t a great outing for Dennis Hildeby. He made 14 saves on 18 shots. Meantime, Auston Matthews scored for the fifth straight game. CLASSIC TRAP GAME.
Furthermore, sadly, in the process of losing the game, the Leafs also lost Matthew Knies due to an upper body injury. It doesn’t sound like it’s overly seriously, though.
After that, courtesy of Charm Diamond Centres, we welcomed in NHL Analyst (ESPN/Sportsnet) Ray Ferraro for another visit. We got his thoughts on Knies’ injury, the Reaves/Olivier scrap, Morgan Rielly’s struggles, what the Leafs should target on the trade market, and Mitch Marner’s pending appearance at the 4 Nations.
Jay Rosehill will be back for the Friday edition of Leafs Morning Take. Join us at 11 AM ET as we preview the latest instalment of the Battle of Ontario.
