Reuniting the Tanev brothers in Toronto would make a lot of sense: Leafs Morning Take

All’s well in Leafs Nation following Toronto’s thrilling 7-3 come-from-behind victory in Montreal on Saturday night.
What a game.
The Fourth Period’s David Pagnotta filled in for Jay Rosehill on the Monday edition of Leafs Morning Take. We kicked off the show by discussing how tight things are in the Eastern Conference standings. Naturally, it morphed into a conversation about trades, one we dove deeper into later on in the show. Could we see some activity ahead of the Four Nations tournament? Dave thinks so.
Brought to you by Greta Bar, we dove into a full recap of the crazy win. After spotting the Habs a 3-0 first period lead, the Leafs stormed back with seven unanswered goals. Joseph Woll stood on his head making 32 saves while Oliver Ekman-Larsson notched a goal and two helpers. Meantime, Toronto potted two power play goals and two shorties. Also, Auston Matthews netted his seventh goal in the past eight games, William Nylander scored a beauty to tie the game at three early in the third, and Mitch Marner tallied two helpers. Indisputably, the two turning points in the game were Christian Dvorak hitting the crossbar up 3-0 and Arber Xhekaj electing not to take to take a fight with Ryan Reaves late in the first period. The sweet, sweet game. Toronto’s now 27-2-1 when scoring 3+ goals this season.
At any rate, we previewed tonight’s home ice tilt on Prime Monday Night Hockey with Jon Cooper’s Tampa Bay Lightning. Joseph Woll will take on Jonas Johansson. Interestingly, Tampa’s electing to start Andrei Vasilevskiy tomorrow night in Montreal instead. The Leafs, who are seven points up on the Lightning in the Atlantic Division, can really create some separation in the standings with a victory tonight. The Bolts do have three games in hand, though. Max Pacioretty won’t play due to an upper body injury. He took a Matthews clapper in the ear on Saturday night.
Lastly, as teased earlier on, we got into some potential Maple Leafs trade targets. All in all, it will be fascinating to see what they do between now and the March 7th trade deadline.
Jay Rosehill will be back in the mix for the Tuesday edition of Leafs Morning Take. Join us at 11 AM for a full recap of Leafs/Lightning. Also, Amazon Prime’s Adnan Virk will drop by to break down the game.
