After his very impressive preseason game against the Buffalo Sabres, everyone’s favourite Peterborough Pete, Semyon Der-Arguchintsev signed his Entry-Level Contract.
The youngest possible player to get drafted in the 2018 Entry Draft, is now officially a signed member of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
With the Petes last season, Der-Arguchintsev scored 12 goals and 51 points in 68 games. Impressive for such a young player in a very dynamic league.
He is most likely heading back to Peterborough this season, to show what he can do as an extremely elusive 5’10” centerman in the OHL. His skating reminds you of Marner and his pass-first mentality does as well.
SDA is the second player of the nine that were drafted just last June; Rasmus Sandin the first. Him signing this contract does not guarantee any spot in the lineup or anything. Since he is most likely going back to the OHL, his contract is not counted against the 50 contract limit. His RFA eligibility will slide as well.
Everything about Der-Arguchintsev’s game is exciting to watch – so hopefully, we will all keep an eye out for some nasty OHL highlights from our Russian Mitch Marner.
