That’s it, that’s all for the month of October for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Capped off by a 4-1 win against Seattle on Halloween at Scotiabank Arena, they went 6-4-1.
We kicked off the Friday edition of Leafs Morning Take by talking about Halloween. Rosey had some fun, I chilled out. Furthermore, a little Leafs fan Grayson caught our attention. The youngster dressed up as Auston Matthews, which prompted the team to reach out and invite the youngster to the game. He got to meet his hero. So cool! Well done!
Additionally, we gave our quick thoughts on Jani Hakanpaa and Connor Dewar being sent to the AHL for a conditioning stint. If everything goes according to plan, they should be ready to go by next weekend —one would think.
Brought to you by Square, we recapped the win against the Kraken. Joseph Woll was solid making 24 stops for his first win of the season. Meantime, William Nylander, who disclosed to the media on Thursday morning that he’s been lobbying to Craig Berube for more ice time, notched two goals. In fact, it was another strong outing for the newly formed trio of Max Paciorrety (1 A), John Tavares (2 A), and Nylander (2 G). Furthermore, I loved seeing Berube hold Nylander accountable for a neutral zone turnover after he had already popped in two goals. You love to see it.
Then, courtesy Charm Diamond Centres, NHL Network Radio host Steve Kouleas dropped by the show for the first time. We covered a lot. Koulie brought the energy, and most importantly, plenty of opinions and spicy hot takes. Hell, I even asked if him if he thought Chris Tanev would make Canada’s Four Nations team. Spoiler: Don’t think so.
Lastly, thanks to Prime Video, we previewed this weekend’s back-to-back in St. Louis and Minnesota, respectively. Joseph Woll is from Missouri. Should he start against the Blues? Also, you know Craig Berube will want that one badly. That’s the real revenge game!
Don’t forget about daylight savings! We’ll be back on Monday at 11 AM to recap the weekend plus look ahead to Toronto’s upcoming games.
