Lord Stanley will be in the building tonight as the Florida Panthers look to finish off the Edmonton Oilers on home ice for the second consecutive season.
Jay Rosehill was back in the mix for the Tuesday edition of Leafs Morning Take. We kicked off the show by discussing proper Stanley Cup etiquette. With that in mind, Rosey shared a story about his experience at one of Luke Schenn’s Cup parties. Spoiler: The Cup keepers weren’t too pleased, but Rosey hoisted the Stanley Cup over his head. But seriously, what were they going to do? Fight him?
After that, we weighed on Game 6. Can the Oilers force a Game 7, or will the Florida Panthers win their second straight Cup? Ultimately, if it’s Edmonton, Connor McDavid needs to have a legacy game —plain and simple. Selfishly, we both want the series to finish so we can get on the with the offseason already.
Then, brought to you by Charm Diamond Centres, SiriusXM NHL Network Radio host Steve Kouleas dropped by the show once again. Firstly, we got his thoughts on the Stanley Cup Final. Most specifically, how he views the Leafs compared to Florida and Edmonton. Additionally, we got into the Marner stuff. Furthermore, we spent a big chunk of time talking about free agency and who/what the Leafs could aim to do.
To wrap, Rosey weighed in on the latest developments over the past few days surrounding Marner. On Monday, his foundation cancelled their annual Toronto charity event scheduled for Jule 10th and 11th. That essentially confirms he’s leaving, right? Over and above that conversation, we did debate the idea of trading for Mika Zibanejad. At that price tag (5 years left @ $8.5 million), neither of us were some bullish on the idea.
Lots coming your way on the Wednesday edition of Leafs Morning Take. We’ll recap Game 6 and current Washington Capitals head coach and former Leafs assistant Spencer Carbery, who just won the Jack Adams Trophy, will drop by the show.
