8 games remaining in the regular season.
Sam Reinhart tied it late, then Brandon Montour scored the OT winner as the Panthers came from behind to stun the Maple Leafs on Wednesday night at Scotiabank Arena.
Honestly, I’m happy Rosey and I agreed..who cares? That game mattered for Florida, not so much for Toronto. At any rate, we kicked off the Thursday edition of Leafs Morning Take by addressing Paul Maurice’s bench tirade. Was he fired up, or what?
Once we started recapping the game, naturally, Auston Matthews came up. Papi’s hot. He’s up to 37 on year and now has nine goals in the 11 outings. For my money (and I know that guy in Edmonton is having a season), but Matthews is still the best goal scorer in the NHL right now.
Additionally, we gave Zach Aston-Reese his flowers. He’s been tremendous lately. The 31-year-old tallied his eight of the year against the Panthers.
Lastly, Frank Seravalli ruffled some feathers on Wednesday when he unveiled his initial top-50 free agents list for this summer and Michael Bunting was No. 1. Seriously, this market can be so sensitive sometimes.
Meantime, we have a big interview lined up for Friday’s show (11 AM ET). Leafs D Luke Schenn will join us for the second time this season!
