The lack of crowd noise for the home opener player intros was embarrassing: Leafs Morning Take

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
We kicked off the Monday edition of Leafs Morning Take by discussing the holiday weekend. On top of that, I served up a spicy hot take: turkey is supremely overrated. For the record, Rosey vehemently denied that statement. After that, we got into Saturday night’s home opener, specifically the player intros. The crowd was dead silent —at least on TV it came off that way. Honestly, it was super embarrassing. Unfortunately, though, it’s not the first time that we’ve addressed the lack of ambience at Scotiabank Arena on our podcast. Sadly, it won’t be the last, either. The Raptors don’t seem to have a problem with crowd noise.
At any rate, brought to you by Square, we dissected the 4-2 victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Personally, I thought it was a hard-fought win. William Nylander potted two goals while Mitch Marner had a goal and an assist. Bottom line, the Leafs got the job done. Naturally, we dissected the struggling power play, too. Through nine outings, they’re 0-for-9. With all that talent, that’s unacceptable. It started on Saturday night with Oliver Ekman-Larsson replacing Morgan Rielly on PP1, but Rosey and I both agreed that more changes are needed get things cooking again.
After that, we played another edition of Take It or Leaf it. Anthony Stolarz, Auston Matthews, and Timothy Liljegren were the principal characters discussed.
Meantime, we broke down Toronto’s upcoming light two-game slate this week. They’re home to Los Angeles on Wednesday night and the New York Rangers on Saturday night. Additionally, judging by the pairings in practice on Monday, it looks like Timothy Liljegren could make his season debut in the next game.
We’ll back in the mix tomorrow for the Tuesday edition of Leafs Morning Take at 11 AM ET. Be sure to join us as legendary NHL head coach Joel Quenneville will drop by the show.
