The Leafs can learn a thing or two from how Colorado handled the Rantanen situation: Leafs Morning Take

After banging off three straight wins, the Leafs have now lost two in a row.
Suffice it is to say, the injury is catching up to them big-time.
At any rate, we kicked off the Monday edition of Leafs Morning Take by discussing another heartbreaking loss for the Buffalo Bills. In many ways, their postseason struggles are very relatable to Leafs Nation. They just can’t get the job done when it matters most, something we know all too well in these parts. Additionally, in our opening block, we talked about Chris Tanev and how we think he should be in the running to replace Alex Pietrangelo at the 4 Nations. He’s been incredible this season. That said, it will likely be Drew Doughty who gets the job.
Then, brought to you by Greta Bar, we got into a full game recap of Saturday night’s 2-1 loss in Ottawa. All in all, Craig Berube’s bunch didn’t play too bad. Unfortunately, the difference in the game was an ugly Shane Pinto goal that hit every nook and cranny imaginable. That’s the way she goes sometimes. Meantime, we spent a lot of time breaking down the Cousins/Quillan knee on knee. Honestly, Rosey got pretty fired up about it. In short, he didn’t think Cousins did anything wrong. Speaking of Jacob Quillan, he played 5:21 in his NHL debut. The Leafs essentially ran three lines the majority of the night. Toronto’s now dropped four in row and five of the past six meetings with their provincial rivals.
Lastly, we spent a few minutes breaking down Friday night’s blockbuster trade. In true Toronto fashion, we debated what it means for the Leafs. In some ways, the Rantanen/Marner situations are similar. Having said that, Rantanen had a nine team no trade, Marner has a full no move. He’s not going anywhere.
Carter Hutton will be in for Jay Rosehill on the Tuesday edition of Leafs Morning Take. In addition to breaking down the latest from Leafs practice on Monday – one that took place outdoor – Bruce Boudreau will drop by the show once again.
