The McMann-Domi-Robertson trio was unreal against Buffalo: Leafs Morning Take

Another weekend, another split for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Fourth Period’s David Pagnotta filled in for Jay Rosehill on the Monday edition of Leafs Morning Take. We kicked off the show by discussing the Cam Fowler trade from over the weekend. In case you missed it, the top 4 blueliner was dealt from Anaheim to St. Louis. With that in mind, we did discuss some potential Maple Leafs moves ahead of the December 20th trade freeze. It likely won’t happen anytime soon, but indisputably, the search is underway for a centre. Over the next few months, a bunch of pivots will be linked to Toronto.
After that, we got into the nuts and bolts of the weekend. Of course, the Leafs lost 4-2 in Detroit before coming from behind to smother the struggling Sabres 5-3. All in all, it was an up and down weekend. Lately, I feel like the Leafs have had some puck management issues, but overall, there’s no reason to get up in arms about it. On Sunday, John Tavares recorded his fifth hat-trick as a Leaf and 13th career. The former captain is having an incredible. Naturally, we wondered what his next deal could look like.
Additionally, we talked about Max Domi finally scoring a goal and notching a point. In general, I thought the McMann-Domi-Robertson line was outstanding against Buffalo. Let’s hope they can keep things going here! Toronto’s next game is in Dallas on Wednesday night.
Meantime, Anthony Stolarz was placed on injured reserve. He’s not eligible to return until Friday in Buffalo. At this point, there’s been no indication about a potential return. We just wait and see and hope for the best. Everything’s day-to-day with this team, right?
Jay Rosehill will make his triumphant return for the Tuesday edition of Leafs Morning Take (11 AM ET). We’ll get his thoughts on how the Leafs have played lately. Also, we have two big guests as Stephen Brunt, who’s launching a limited edition 6-episode series called Up Close, and former Leaf Brad May will drop by the show.
