TLN’s Full 2015 Leafs Draft Kit

By Ryan Fancey
Jun 24, 2015, 12:58 EDTUpdated:
It’s been an exciting couple months at TLN since the season ended, with lots of material to discuss regarding the Leafs’ front office clean-out, major trade rumors, and perhaps most importantly, the draft. In the last few weeks particularly, we’ve put together plenty of articles and rundowns covering the options for the team at fourth overall and twenty-fourth overall, and presented in-depth looks at the numbers for prospects drafted out of the different junior leagues – not just in Canada but worldwide.
On top of all that we’ve used our research to compile our very own prospect ranking (which we feel is among the best out there) and completed a mock draft. But perhaps the main thing is we’ve covered everything in between: The Strome versus Marner debate, who the Leafs could be targeting, trade-up or trade-down scenarios, and more.
Because there have been so many words written about everything leading up to this draft, we figured it’d be best to collect as much of this as possible in one place for quick reference. Perhaps you might even see something interesting you missed the first go-around.
Here’s the full 2015 Leafs Draft Kit from TLN.
The Leafs at Fourth Overall
Here are the arguments made by our staff for each of the most-talked-about targets in the Leafs’ range for their top pick.
More first round targets
We’ve covered a lot of prospects for the 24th overall selection Toronto received from Nashville in the Franson deal, which might seem like overkill, but keep in mind the Leafs are looking to add to their pick total. Don’t be surprised if they nab more selections that have these prospects within reach.
Draft Numbers
Our own Shawn Reis has been doing some great work looking into how prospects from the various feeder leagues compare to past selections, and if there are any conclusions we can make about this year’s class. He’s also been taking a deeper look into finding some prospects who make be overlooked within the CHL.

Rankings! Mock Drafts!

When it comes to the draft, here is where we have the most fun. Rankings, mock drafts, comparisons to other rankings and mock drafts. Let’s fight about it.
Headlines
This is basically everything in between. We’ve been keeping a close eye on what insiders are saying, what fans are discussing, and tidbits from the Leafs’ front office themselves. And we haven’t been shy about sprinkling in our own opinions on it all either.
Enjoy the draft
Yes we’ve had a good time with all this draft coverage. It’s too bad it’ll probably all be useless when the Leafs make fourteen trades and don’t draft one name on our list. But hey, we tried. Have fun watching the draft, folks. Hopefully we’ll get a few things to cheer about.
