Jeremiah Crowe has been hired by the Toronto Maple Leafs as director of player personnel, the team confirmed Wednesday.
Crowe previously served as the director of professional scouting for the Buffalo Sabres from 2022-23 to 2025-26. The 40-year-old joined the Sabres as a pro scout for the 2017-18 season, after working a scout for the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the USHL, and as the director of player personnel for the U.S. National Development Team Program. Crowe also played four seasons in the NCAA with Clarkson University.
Crowe’s appointment comes after Maple Leafs general manager John Chayka made significant changes to the team’s scouting and player personnel departments. Maple Leafs director of amateur scouting Mark Leach, assistant general manager Hayley Wickenheiser, senior advisor to player personnel Dave Morrison among several others. Brandon Pridham took on a new role with the Pittsburgh Penguins as a hockey operations consultant.
Judd Brackett was hired as assistant general manager, player evaluation, Freddie Hamilton was appointed as chief of staff while Ryan Hardy remains with the organization as assistant general manager, minor league operations and Toronto Marlies. Brackett previously worked for the Minnesota Wild, and was lauded for his scouting acumen. Hardy oversaw the Marlies’ Calder Cup championship run this summer, with several players expected to make an impact on next season’s roster, including Easton Cowan and Artur Akhtyamov.
During a summer where the Maple Leafs are revamping every aspect of their roster, with Auston Matthews at the forefront, Crowe’s work with the USNTDP could be an appealing factor. Matthews’ teammate from the USNTDP, Jack Roslovic, joined the Maple Leafs on a two-year contract, and while the club navigates two timelines, ensuring that the captain is willing to sign a long-term extension should be a leading priority for Chayka and Mats Sundin.
Toronto continues to be the busiest team in the NHL this offseason, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see more appointments announced. The 2026-27 is quickly approaching, as Toronto will host the Montreal Canadiens on September 29.
