The Toronto Maple Leafs announced on Monday that they will hosting their annual outdoor practice at Westway Outdoor Rink on January 26th.
This marks the second straight year that the Leafs will be hosting their outdoor practice at a venue other than Nathan Phillips Square, after having last yearâs event at Prince of Wales Park. The Leafs have held a special practice at a facility that isnât the Ford Performance Centre once a year since 2017, apart from two years of COVID interruptions in 2021 and 2022.
âWe look forward to this event every year as a chance to connect with our passionate fans, and doing so in their communities makes it even more meaningful,â Brad Treliving said in a press release. âThis weekend is about giving the next generation the opportunity to experience the game outdoors â where many of us first fell in love with hockey.â
New to the festivities this year is the inclusion of WWE Superstars in Maxxine Dupri, Otis, Akira Tozawa, Ivy Nile, The Creed Brothers and WWE reporter Jackie Redmond. They will support the players through a 3-on-3 tournament as guest coaches during the main event on January 26th.
The 2026 Outdoor Practice will once again be a multi-day event, which will include open-ice skates, a Toronto Sceptres skills competition, a Leafs alumni game, and a watch party for their afternoon game against the Colorado Avalanche on January 25th.
âThe turnout is fantastic, obviously. You donât see that too often, the turnout we had today. It was a great little event,â head coach Craig Berube said after the 2025 Outdoor Practice. âItâs great to do something like this, itâs a fun day obviously. The guys have fun with it. The support you get here in Toronto is fantastic. It makes the event a lot more fun, a lot of people out here cheering. Itâs a good day for the guys. Itâs something different, right, from the daily grind.â
