Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson appears to be in line to be a healthy scratch for the second consecutive game, based on practice lines posted by TSN’s Mark Masters.
Robertson was scratched for Monday’s win against the Utah Hockey Club and was operating as the team’s 13th forward on Wednesday. The 23-year-old has posted 11 goals and 17 points in 55 games this season. Pontus Holmberg remains in the lineup on the fourth line with David Kampf and Steven Lorentz, while Calle Jarnkrok is on the second line with John Tavares and William Nylander.
Scott Laughton appears to be affixed to the third line alongside Bobby McMann and Max Domi. Laughton is struggling to find his form through his first two games with the Leafs, and is expected to provide some secondary scoring punch and defensive responsibility.
“He is hard on himself,” Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube said of Laughton on Monday, via Masters. “Always has been…He’s got to just pull back a little bit with that and just play. Play hard. You know, control what you can control. His effort, his battle, things like that, and he’ll get comfortable with the systems and comfortable with his linemates in a short time.”
Matthew Knies, Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner remain untouched on the Maple Leafs’ first line.
Chris Tanev practiced, although his status for Thursday’s game against the Florida Panthers is unclear. Tanev has been out of the lineup since suffering an upper-body injury during a February 25 win against the Boston Bruins. He’s been the Maple Leafs’ most valuable defenceman this season, with two goals and 17 points in 57 games, while playing like a true lockdown defender.
Anthony Stolarz was previously confirmed as the Maple Leafs’ starter for Thursday’s game.
