Max Pacioretty will likely remain in the lineup for the Toronto Maple Leafs as they look to close out their first-round series against the Ottawa Senators.
Pacioretty was inserted into the lineup for Game 3, taking Nick Robertson’s place. The 36-year-old recorded a team-best seven hits (in a tie with Bobby McMann) during the contest, while providing a physical presence Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube was searching for. Pacioretty took reps alongside McMann and Max Domi on the third line during Saturday’s practice.
There are no changes to the group that won Game 3 for the Maple Leafs, as Pontus Holmberg continues in a top-six role alongside John Tavares and William Nylander. Anthony Stolarz, who has now won 11 consecutive games dating back to the regular season, is the projected starter for the Maple Leafs. He’s arguably been the MVP of the series, outplaying Linus Ullmark in three consecutive contests
This is a prime opportunity for the Maple Leafs to sweep their first-round opponent, and gain some rest ahead of the second round. Mitch Marner leads the Leafs with six points, Auston Matthews has recorded five points, and the power play is on fire, converting on 5-of-9 opportunities to date.
Ottawa held an optional skate Saturday, and it’s possible top prospect Carter Yakemchuk could make his playoff debut, with his team on the brink of elimination. Yakemchuk was selected seventh overall in the 2024 NHL Draft and is coming off an excellent year with the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL.
Senators head coach Travis Green did not indicate if he would be making any changes to his lineup Saturday morning.
