The Toronto Maple Leafs have issued qualifying offers to forward Nick Robertson, defenceman Emil Andrae, and forward Jacob Quillan ccording to a report from The Athletic.
With Monday at 5:00pm eastern being the deadline to issue qualifying offers to restricted free agents, the Leafs have made initial offers to some of the most important names on that list. One notable emission from this group is forward Matias Maccelli, whose qualifying offer would be worth $4.1 million. If the Leafs don’t extend Maccelli or trade him by the time the deadline comes around, he will be an unrestricted free agent. Maccelli, 25, had an up-and-down season in Toronto that featured long stretches of healthy scratches along with bursts of production in other stretches. He finished the season with 39 points in 71 games.
Robertson, meanwhile, is due a qualifying offer of $1.8 million. Whether or not he’ll accept this is unknown, but it’s clear that the Leafs feel more comfortable negotiating a contract with Robertson than they do giving Maccelli a guaranteed $4.1 million.
Robertson set career highs across the board in 2025-26, including games played (78), goals (16), assists (16), and points (32). He also developed a better defensive game and enhanced his workhorse mentality under head coach Craig Berube. He spoke following the season and admitted he was unsure about his future in Toronto, noting that he wants some stability on his next contract.
“I want to be somewhere where I’m wanted. That’s up to the team, whether they want me or not. Whether that’s here, or somewhere else, I know a team will want me,” he said to The Athletic’s Joshua Kloke. “I don’t know what the future holds for me here. Every full season I’ve played here, it’s been a ‘prove it’ season. I’m used to it at this point. It would be nice to get some term. Obviously it has to be for the right price.”
Andrae was recently acquired from the Philadelphia Flyers in a trade that involved Joseph Woll and Simon Benoit going the other way. Quillan took a significant step forward in 2025-26, scoring at nearly a point-per-game clip in the AHL and getting his first prolonged taste of NHL action, notching three points in 23 AHL games.
Among other players the Maple Leafs have yet to qualify include defenceman Henry Thrun and prospects William Villeneuve, Ryan Tverberg, and Vyacheslav Peksa.
