Following a disappointing 0-1-1 weekend, it feels like the noise is getting louder in Toronto once again.
People are fed up. And quite frankly, I don’t blame them.
At any rate, Rosey and I kicked off the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_XwB54wC4k">Monday edition of Leafs Morning Take</a> by talking about our weekends before diving headfirst into an ugly two games for Sheldon Keefe and company.
Furthermore, presented by Door Dash, The Appetizer focused on recapping the 4-3 OT loss to Chicago on Black Friday and the 3-2 regulation loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday night. For the record, the Leafs held a lead in both games. As we’ve seen time and time again, Toronto lacked the jam and desperation necessary to be a consistent juggernaut in the NHL. They went through the motions, and ultimately, it cost them in back-to-back outings.
From there, brought to you by Charm Diamond Centres, we broke down what we’ve seen from the Matthews/Marner combo lately. Full disclosure: It hasn’t been pretty. Both stars were held pointless over the weekend. On top of that, I brought up the idea of splitting the two up once again, something that’s brought success in the past. Any way you slice it, they need to find a way to get their two big boys going again, because in recent outings, they’ve been absolute ghosts. No need to sugar coat things here.

After that, we talked briefly about Toronto’s upcoming three game homestand this week and the importance of demonstrating consistency. The Leafs will play four of their next five at Scotiabank Arena, a building they’re just 5-4-0 in so far this season. Not good enough.
