WWYDW: Expansion draft thoughts

Jun 14, 2017, 11:13 EDT
It’s only ONE week until we find out who gets to play for the Vegas Golden Knights! If this isn’t the highlight of your summer, well, maybe it’s time to reevaluate your priorities.
There’s only two things guaranteed in Leafs land when it comes to the expansion draft:
- They will lose a hockey player.
- Whatever happens, people will get mad.
The Leafs, as we know, are coming out of the draft in a decent spot anyway. Because so many of their players are still on entry level deals, they’re by nature, exempt. While some teams may be losing one of their 10 best players, whoever the Leafs lose is probably in the 15-20 range on the team’s value chart. At the end of the day, it really shouldn’t alter the team’s makeup at all, as there’s a very good chance who they lose isn’t even a regular roster player for the blue-and-white.
Last week, our staff made our picks….
and now it’s your turn, noted reader!
Who would YOU protect? Why? Are you going to stick to the conventional 7F-3D-1G or are you going to go with 8S-1G? Who do you think Vegas takes? Do you have any side deals so they don’t take a certain player? Is there anyone you think the Leafs shouldn’t protect, but will? Is there anyone you think the Leafs should protect, but won’t?
