It looks like the Toronto Maple Leafs might make a lineup change today, and while it involves an oft-speculated person coming out, it’s not their counterpart coming in.

Fehr, of course, was the “cap dump” piece of the move that sent Frank Corrado to the Pittsburgh Penguins and got Toronto a fourth-round draft pick for their services. Still signed through next year, Fehr comes with a $2,000,000 cap hit of which a little less than half can be buried if he’s sent to the minors.

For the past three weeks, the 31-year-old native of Winkler, Manitoba has been waiting for a chance to play, having previously tallied up 11 points in 52 games with the Penguins. Tonight will be his opportunity.

On the other hand, though, you have Josh Leivo, who has been patiently sitting around while the team plays proverbial chicken with his future. Leivo has been everywhere from the ice to the press box to injured reserve all season, but it seemed like he had earned his spot when he went on a 9 point in 8 game tear where even the fancystats matched his production.

Mike Babcock felt differently, though, and brought Nikita Soshnikov back into the lineup for his penalty killing prowess.

I’m curious to hear from you all as to what your preferred scenario is. Do you give Fehr the chance, knowing that he’s been a good sport about things and that whatever hot streak that Leivo was on has likely dissipated? Or do you look back to your younger winger, who appeared to earn a spot against expectation and had his run cut off before it could dissipate?
