Toronto Marlies head coach Sheldon Keefe provided an update on the injury status of Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Timothy Liljegren, late Sunday evening.
“He’s week to week. He’s got a high ankle sprain,” Keefe told reporters.
The Leafs 2017 first round pick is scheduled to represent Sweden at the upcoming World Junior tournament in Vancouver and Victoria.
With the injury being evaluated on a week-to-week basis, and the tournament being 17 days away, Keefe was honest when discussing the possibility of Liljegren starting the tournament healthy.
“It could be a stretch,” said Keefe.
Liljegren, who has recorded eight points through 19 contests with the Marlies this year, represented his country at last years World Juniors.
