John Klingberg lands on LTIR & the Leafs return to game action: Leafs Morning Take

Didn’t think John Klingberg’s career with the Maple Leafs would be over after 14 games, yet here we are.
Before diving into the headline story, we kicked off the Black Friday edition of Leafs Morning Take with two fun topics. Firstly, I got Jay Rosehill’s opinion on the Leafs going with the blue bucket/white jersey combo in Sweden. Then, I got his thoughts on that picture of Connor McDavid photoshopped in a Leafs jersey making its rounds on social media lately. What a thing of beauty!
Presented by Door Dash, The Appetizer focused on the Klingberg news. As we speculated a few weeks ago, it appears the much-maligned blueliner is headed for Robidas Island, which means, it’s highly likely that he won’t play another game for Toronto. Honestly, it’s hard to believe how quickly this whole story unravelled. Such a bizarre situation. At any rate, the Leafs now have some much-needed cap space to work with.

After that, brought to you by the Wendy’s Daily Faceoff Survivor, we previewed this weekend’s back-to-back against Chicago and Pittsburgh, respectively. I’m really curious to see how the team performs given their lack of game action over the past few weeks. Unfortunately, you just never know with this team. Furthermore, I’m looking forward to Saturday’s tilt in Pittsburgh. Of course, Kyle Dubas now runs the Pittsburgh Penguins, so without question, the game story for that one writes itself.
That’s it, that’s all for another week for Leafs Morning Take. Rosey and I will be back in the mix on Monday at 11 AM ET. We’ll recap the back-to-back, plus look ahead to Toronto’s three game homestand against Florida, Seattle, and Boston, respectively. Any way you slice it, it’s good to have some games to talk about again.
Have a great weekend!
