LGD: Hockey Night in St. Catharines (Leafs vs. Sabres)

We’re back again! The preseason kicked off with the Mitch Marner show in Halifax earlier this week, and now, the Leafs move over to scenic St. Catharines, Ontario to take on the Buffalo Sabres tonight. Here’s what’s going down:

The Leafs

Here are Toronto’s projected lines, based on the released roster sheet and their practice lines from yesterday:
Kerby Rychel – Nazem Kadri – Peter Holland
Zach Hyman – William Nylander – Matt Martin
Tobias Lindberg – Colin Smith – Rich Clune
Josh Leivo – Frederik Gauthier – Brendan Leipsic
Tony Cameranesi is the 13th forward.
On defence, we’ll see at least (well, probably just) six of Connor Carrick, Martin Marincin, Rinat Valiev, Justin Holl, Viktor Loov, Travis Dermott, Nikolas Brouillard, and Raman Hrabarenka. Garret Sparks and Kasimir Kaskisuo will be dressed in goal.

The Sabres

Here are Buffalo’s lines, via John Vogl:
Marcus Foligno – Johan Larsson – Kyle Okposo
Evander Kane – Alex Nylander – Derek Grant
Matt Moulson – Cal O’Reilly – Hudson Fasching
William Carrier – Dan Catenacci – Cole Schneider
On defence, there will be some combination of Josh Gorges, Zach Bogosian, Cody Franson, Brendan Guhle, Mac Bennett, Justin Falk, and Erik Burgdoerfer. Anders Nilsson and Jason Kasdorf are the goalies that are dressing.

What To Watch For

Both teams are playing a reasonable amount of National Hockey League talent tonight, so there should be a decent level of competitiveness. It’s worth noting that none of Toronto’s World Cup players have drawn into the lineup just yet, that Tyler Bozak still hasn’t dressed for a game, and that Kerby Rychel is getting a chance to prove that his first-game ejection isn’t all the Leafs need to see in camp.
Puck drop is at 7:00 PM and you can catch the game on TSN 4 (Toronto local).
