The Edmonton Oilers are in deep doo doo.
Evan Rodrigues scored twice to lead the Florida Panthers to a 4-1 victory in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final and a 2-0 series lead. After a so-so opener, Paul Maurice’s squad came to play in a big way, and unfortunately, Edmonton’s offence is still nowhere to be found.
Predictability, that’s where the conversation started on the Tuesday edition of Leafs Morning Take. The Oilers have scored one goal in two games —very Leafy. Furthermore, weirdly enough, outside of Carter Verhaeghe, none of the big boys have really done much so far in the series. Additionally, Rosey shared his thoughts on the Draisaitl hit that forced Aleksander Barkov to leave the game. Spoiler: He questioned if it was even a penalty.
Presented by Greta Bar YYZ, we dissected Max Domi’s comments about Craig Berube from Sunday morning. The pending UFA, who conversed with Lance Hornby of the Toronto Sun at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk in Toronto, had nothing about great things to say about the new head coach. Naturally, we talked about Domi potentially staying. He had a rough first half of the season before really finding his identity as a Maple Leaf. Most importantly, Domi was excellent in the playoffs against Boston. More of that, please.
After that, thanks to Wendy’s, Rosey’s former teammate in Toronto Wayne Primeau dropped by the show. We discussed his time in the blue and white, the current team, and what he’s been up to since retiring from the NHL. It was a fun catch-up.

Meantime, we also broke down the Laurent Brossoit rumours. According to The Athletic’s James Mirtle, there’s said to be mutual interest between the 31-year-old pending UFA netminder and the Maple Leafs. Brossoit, who spent this past season backing up Connor Hellebuyck in Winnipeg, went 15-5-2 with a .927 save-percentage.

Coming up on the Wednesday edition of Leafs Morning Take, Sportsnet’s NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman will drop by the show once again to dish on the hottest rumours surrounding the Maple Leafs.
