Day-after recap: Whole lotta hockey

There aren’t a lot of hockey games where you can allow four straight goals against and come away with the victory, but there aren’t a lot of teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs.
On a night that was marred by an undisclosed Frederik Andersen injury, the Leafs picked up a key two points in an exciting, but ugly shootout win.
1-0 Leafs (Nazem Kadri goal)
Things got started early on a goal that will be on the lowlights for weeks to come. Not quite sure what Kari Lehtonen’s doing here, but it did come up with a lot of people making “Kari Let them in” puns, or something similar.
2-0 Leafs (JVR goal)
We blinked and now it's 2-0
Remember that van Riemsdyk name. Within a minute of Kadri opening the scoring, JVR does as well, he does, and there’s no better net front guy in the league. Mark that 27 goals on the year after cleaning up the garbage in front.
2-1 Leafs (Jamie Benn goal)
Jamie Benn, leading by example. #GoStars
You can’t even really see the release on this shot. Don’t leave Jamie Benn open in the slot, as the 2014 Olympic gold medallist will usually burn you.
2-2 (Radek Faksa goal)
You get pucks to the net, good things happen. Pateryn to Faksa, part two. #GoStars
And just like that, all of the “we went up by two so early” hype was gone. Before the
3-2 Stars (Tyler Seguin goal)

…. this isn’t good. Another Stars star with the puck on his stick in a dangerous area, and we’re suddenly looking back wondering where our two goal lead went.
4-2 Stars (Remi Elie goal)

This isn’t good at all. Before this goal, Frederik Andersen was removed from the game for an undisclosed upper body injury. The Leafs enter the third down by a pair of goals after a great pass from Devin Shore and a snapshot that would fool Curtis McElhinney.
4-3 (JVR goal)
.@JVReemer21 notches his second goal of the game.
You know that sense of “well, the Leafs don’t really have any motivation to tie it” that you felt entering the third period when they were down by two? Throw that out the window.
JVR’s gonna keep on fighting, and keep on scoring, and if he has to win this game by himself he just might.
4-4 (JVR hat trick goal)
OH WOW. Three goals, three shots right in front of the slot. Kid’s at his best tonight, and scores his team leading 29th goal of the season.
5-4 (Brett Ritchie goal)
Goals have been coming in pairs tonight. We have the lead, but we're looking for one more. #GoStars
Look, if you lose a game where one of your players scored a hat trick, that should honestly be considered illegal.
The Leafs were at risk of doing that after Brett Ritchie’s goal…
5-5 (Patrick Marleau goal)
Until Patrick Marleau found the net off a Mitch Marner shot with 16 seconds remaining. Mitch’s second assist of the night, Marleau’s 22nd goal, and we’re headed off to an extra frame.
