The Michael Hutchinson era is over (for now). Frederik Andersen has been activated from the Injured Reserve and will be in net tonight against the Colorado Avalanche.
Andersen hasn’t played since Dec. 22 due to a groin injury. Shortly after Andersen got hurt, backup Garret Sparks also went on the IR because of a shot he took off the head in practice. The Leafs acquired third-string goalie Michael Hutchinson from the Florida Panthers to become the emergency netminder. Hutchinson has since been loaned to the Toronto Marlies to make room on the roster for Andersen.
The Leafs went 4-4 in the eight games that Andersen missed. Hutchinson went 2-3 with a save percentage of .914 and Sparks went 2-1 with a save percentage of .885.
