No real surprise here, although it’s definitely a bit of a gut-punch to a player who was quickly becoming a fan favourite.
Despite scoring in each of his first two games, defenceman Justin Holl was loaned back to the Marlies today.
The move makes way for Morgan Rielly, who’s been out of action for since a loss against the Philadelphia Flyers on January 18.
Having been called up on an emergency basis for his first NHL action at age 26, Holl was a revelation in his two games, making strong passing plays and defensive efforts in addition to his pair of goals. However, he’s a victim of being the odd-man out, as Ron Hainsey also is returning to the lineup tonight.
