Leafs acquire Gabriel Gagne from the Senators

Jan 11, 2019, 11:54 EST
What might be the first of many trades in the upcoming month around the league, the Leafs made a minor deal with the Ottawa Senators on Friday.
Just a quick swap of AHL forwards, Morgan Klimchuk is heading to the Belleville Senators in this deal. Klimchuk was acquired earlier in the season from the Calgary Flames organization, in the Andrew Neilsen trade.
The second-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, Gagne has not yet made his NHL debut, but has been a depth scorer in the AHL. Just his second professional season, he is currently at just four goals and five assists in 33 games for the Senators.
Last season, he was able to score a total of twenty goals and only net five assists in 68 games in his AHL rookie season.
