While the Leafs are enjoying the California weather and preparing for their matchup against the Los Angeles Kings tonight, young Marlies forward Trevor Moore will be on his way to join the team in the Golden State.
Moore, 23, has been exceptional in the AHL with the Marlies for the past few years after signing an ELC two years ago. This season has been a whole new level for the young winger so far.
Three goals and twelve points in the same amount of games played is an outstanding feat for anyone playing in the AHL.
Mostly known for his tendency to rip the puck from the opponent’s stick, Moore has been the “one to watch” when it came to depth on the wing for the Leafs future. Babcock will eat up how defensively-sound Moore can be.
He was called up twelve days ago, practiced with the team for five days, and then sent back down to the Marlies after that. Now that the Leafs are on one of their most travel-heavy road trips, it makes sense to have the young winger with the team in case of injury.
Maybe he will make his NHL debut against one of the three opponents, but maybe he will sit in the press box and enjoy some weather.
