Leafs Sign Nic Petan For 2-Years

The Leafs announced today that they’ve signed forward Nic Petan to a 2-year contract.
Petan, 23, will make $775,000 per year over the course of his new deal. He has appeared in five games for the Leafs since being acquired from the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for Pär Lindholm. He’s registered one goal in that span, on March 2nd, against the Buffalo Sabres.
The deal represents one move out of many to ensure the Leafs can maintain an affordable cast of depth players, as their abundance of young stars will continue to demand the bulk of their cap space moving forward into next season. Petan, once a member of Team Canada at the 2015 World Junior Hockey Championships, should play an important role in maintaining skilled depth in the lineup.
