Well, they’ll be playing this one for hits and giggles.
With Montreal well eliminated from the playoff run and Toronto just trying to avoid injuries, the most tangible result that could come out of this game would be Montreal either jumping up a few percentage points or dropping down, based on Vancouver and Arizona’s results, respectively.
Otherwise, get set to tune into a game that really won’t mean a whole lot other than some good-natured internet fighting with your family members, colleagues, and non-colleagues.

  • The most significant change sees the probable return of Travis Dermott, who missed the last two games with an injured foot.
  • Connor Carrick slots out of the lineup, to make room for Dermott, of course.
  • Andreas Johnsson is not in the lineup. Take that as you will
  • This is a pretty good indication of how the Leafs will look come Game 1 next week.

  • Montreal is 30th in the league in goals scored. They’re 25th in goals against. Not an ideal way to run a hockey franchise.
  • Hey, Kerby Rychel! Good for the former Leafs’ prospect, who was traded earlier this year in the Tomas Plekanec trade.

Starting goalies

It’ll be Carey Price up against Frederik Andersen in this one. Price is rocking an ugly .901 save percentage this year, whereas Andersen is putting up a .917. Andersen looks to stand alone in the Leafs’ record books with his 38th victory of the season with a win tonight.
