Even though their body rhythms may have been thrown all out of whack by playing on a Friday night, they were able to push the needle just enough and win a fun back-and-forth against one of the league’s best teams at completely hemorrhaging an outstanding offence. We’ve got nine goals in this one to get through, so we’ll try to make it brief.
Corsis

Win the Corsica Battle. Win the hockey game. It’s that simple.
First period
Though Anthony Beauvillier opened the scoring inWe saw Mitch Marner’s point streak hit 11 in the first period, a continuation of his career high with this beautiful assist to Nazem Kadri:
Unfortunately for the Buds, Johnny Boychuk would find a sneaky point shot to beat Fred Andersen and make it 2-1 Brooklyn heading into the break.
Second Period
It’s been a long time coming since we’ve been able to say “nice goal by Nikita Zaitsev.”
And while this goal wasn’t particularly nice or even clear that it was his, it’d tie the hockey game for the second time of the night for the Leafs as he managed his 5th of the season, and first goal since November 28th.
Credit where credit is due, New York fought decently for a team well out of the playoff race and this time it was the sneaky good Brock Nelson who put the Isles up once more.
But hey, there’s a kid named Mitch Marner who just does not stop right now, and provided this beauty to tie things once again at three, heading into three:
Third Period
It’s rare you can score four goals in a game and only take the lead once in that frame, but that’s what we’ve got here. THIRTY SIX goals from JVR this year, the latest of which was this beauty to give the Leafs the lead.
And wouldn’t you know it was John Tavares minutes later tying things up?
But hey, we wouldn’t be so happy if we didn’t have this guy. #31 on the season for #34, and it’s tonight’s winner. Check out this masterpiece:
The Leafs goofed up a few empty net chances, but all in all, picked up the two points to make it 101 on the season. Good job, Buds.

Is it now safe to just assume that Marner will get 2 points in every single game he plays for the rest of his career?
