Well, not the happiest of outcomes in Toronto tonight. Boston came into the Scotiabank Arena and well, they won. Against a third-string goal and as the result of a brutal turnover, but even in a game where the Leafs controlled play for extended stretches, couldn’t get more than two past Tuukka Rask.
1st period
Brad Marchand missed an open net about three seconds into the opening shift, and it seemed like things might actually swing in the Leafs’ favour. However, it was just the sign of things to come.
Today we learned of the nickname “Krech”.
1-0 bad guys after 40.
2nd period
Though it looked like Auston Matthews may have gotten a piece of it, Andreas Johnsson got credit for this release which set the game even.
Using Mango magic to make sure this shot found a way in. #LeafsForever
Mitch Marner scored on a rocket of a shot to make it 2-1….
and that’s the happiest it would be in Toronto for the rest of the night.
Big shift from the Bruins 4th line as Sean Kuraly ties up the game 2-2.
Zaitsev gives up the puck to Kuraly who finds Pastrnak. Bruins scores in the dying seconds of the 2nd. 3-2.
…. Nikita wyd. 13 seconds left in the second and it’s 3-2 Bruins.
3rd period
Nobody scored. The Leafs missed the net again for what seemed like a million times. This happened in the final minute or so:
Matthews can't bury the open back hand as the puck rolls of his stick.
MVP:
Igor Ozhiganov has an 85.71% Corsi % tonight so far per @NatStatTrick

Kadri should aim for the posts, it'd be nothing but net
Bruins are the Leafs kryptonite. Doesn't even make sense sometimes.
Up next:
The Leafs will be hunting for a victory on Monday when they host the Colorado Avalanche. Puck drop set for 7 p.m.
