Postgame: Why do we always lose to Buffalo?

The Leafs played the NHL’s worst team, and for some reason, lost for the second time in three games this month against them.
Corsi’s

You’ve got to be kidding, us, folks.
First period
If you’d believe it, the Leafs didn’t exit the first period with a goal for what felt like the first time since 2016 or so. Jack Eichel got the Sabres on the board early, and despite 31 shot attempts in the period, the Leafs couldn’t buy a goal.
Second period
For much of the second period, it looked like the Leafs were stuck with much of the same.
But every so often, the Leafs seemingly surprise us with just how quick their attack can be. In the span of under 90 seconds, the Leafs went from being down and sad, to being up and happy and entering the third period up by one after this goal…
Followed by this one.
daddy from papi on the powerplay and it's 2-1 leafs
Justice was served, and the Leafs were back in the driver’s seat once again. Surely, this was a winnable game against the league’s 31st team?
Third period
Unfortunately, the Leafs showed they’re capable of allowing a few stinkers on the other end as well. They messed around and saw “Casey Nelson” and Jack Eichel strike for back to back goals, one off an poorly timed attempt from Frederik Andersen, and one off a deflection off Roman Polak’s skate.
The Leafs managed 26 shot attempts in the period, but alas, could not come out victorious. A better result was deserved, but hey, kudos to Buffalo for winning their Stanley Cup.
Tweets of the night
if you only watched the sabres play the leafs you would think they were a consistently high-functioning hockey team
I just asked my 6 year old what he wants to be when he grows up. His answer: “A good man” He doesn’t even know who Mike Babcock is...honestly.
It doesn't matter how bad the Sabres are, they will ALWAYS give the Leafs major trouble.
Even at 5v5 the Leafs were dominant...just one of those games. Hockey can be a cruel sport sometimes.
