Welcome to The Leafs Nation’s trade deadline tracker. We will be updating this post throughout the day with any rumors or speculation relevant to the Leafs ahead of the deadline. To get you warmed up, check out our deadline day primer from earlier:
Also be sure to read Jon Steitzer’s Leafs thoughts on the morning of the trade deadline:

3:08pm EST: Frank Seravelli confirms that 27 year old minor league center Antti Suomela is the return for Alexander Barabanov. Appears to be another case of providing a player with a greater opportunity as the Leafs did with Mikko Lehtonen.
3:07pm EST: Lebrun clarifies the cost to acquire Hutton is the Leafs’ 2022 fifth-round pick.
3:06pm EST: Friedman confirms that the Leafs have completed another deal, sending European free agent signing Alexander Barabanov to the San Jose Sharks.
3:04pm EST: TSN hockey insider Frank Seravelli is reporting that the Leafs have dealt a fifth-round pick to the Anaheim Ducks for defenceman Ben Hutton. The Leafs took it down to the wire but they got their depth defenceman.
3:03pm EST: Elliotte Friedman reports that the Leafs have acquired defenceman Ben Hutton from the Anaheim Ducks.
3:00pm EST: As the trade deadline officially passes, Pierre Lebrun confirms that Chicago has not traded bruising defenceman Nikita Zadorov.
2:47pm EST: Chris Johnston’s Sportsnet colleague Elliotte Friedman confirms the full Sam Bennett trade to the Florida Panthers. Calgary gets good value for a player that desperately needed a change of scenery.
2:44pm EST: Sportsnet hockey insider Elliotte Friedman confirms that the Montreal Canadiens have acquired Erik Gustafsson from the Philadelphia Flyers, taking another depth defenceman off the trade market.
2:41pm EST: Chris Johnston reports that the Flames are working on a trade that would send Sam Bennett to the Florida Panthers. Bennett has long been rumored to be on the move and has been linked to the Leafs for months. The chances of the Leafs trading for Bennett after the Foligno acquisition were low but he is a player that checked a lot of the same boxes, albeit not to the same extent.
2:17pm EST: Bob McKenzie confirms the details of Scott Laughton’s contract extension with the Flyers. Great value for Philadelphia at first glance.
2:10pm EST: The Colorado Avalanche announce that they have reacquired depth center Carl Soderberg from the Chicago Blackhawks. Soderberg appeared to be an intriguing option for the Leafs at one point but the recent acquisition of Riley Nash would have made him somewhat redundant on Toronto’s roster.
2:07pm EST: Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston is reporting that the Flyers have in fact come to terms on a new contract with Scott Laughton, removing him from the trade market. Laughton was the last reportedly available player that would have provided a clear upgrade to the Leafs’ third line center position.
1:43pm EST: Lebrun confirms earlier report of a four-year contract extension between the Los Angeles Kings and Alex Iafallo.
1:39pm EST: Kevin Weekes reports that the Kings and pending unrestricted free agent forward Alex Iafallo are nearing completion on a four-year contract extension, effectively removing him from the trade market.
1:24pm EST: Dreger says contract extension talks continue between Scott Laughton and the Flyers with interested teams believing he stays in Philadelphia.
1:09pm EST: TSN hockey insider Darren Dreger confirms the details of the Mattias Janmark trade between Chicago and Vegas.
12:55pm EST: Pierre Lebrun of TSN and The Athletic is reporting that the Blackhawks and Golden Knights have a deal in place that would send forward Mattias Janmark to Vegas. The Leafs were heavily linked to Janmark this past offseason, leading to speculation that they might be interested in him ahead of the deadline.
12:47pm EST: TSN’s Gord Miller confirms that the Edmonton Oilers have completed a move with the New Jersey Devils to acquire depth defender Dmitry Kulikov in exchange for a conditional draft pick.
12:42pm EST: Lebrun reports that the Lightning have acquired Fredrik Claesson from the San Jose Sharks. Didn’t seem to fit what the Leafs are looking for but scratch another potential depth defenceman off the list.
12:30pm EST: Pierre Lebrun reports that the Flyers are still trying to get a contract extension done with Scott Laughton while fielding trade offers from interested teams. The Leafs have been rumored to be interested in the versatile, gritty forward.
12:01pm EST: Sportsnet insiders Elliotte Friedman and Chris Johnston confirm that both Victor Mete and Sami Vatanen have been claimed on waivers. Both players would have been viable targets for the Leafs had they cleared waivers, which would have allowed the Leafs to stash them on the taxi squad.
Vatanan being claimed by the Stars could indicate that Jamie Oleksiak is still on the trade market.
11:59am EST: Sportsnet analyst and Montreal Canadiens writer Eric Engels reports that the Leafs placed a waiver claim on defenceman Victor Mete.
11:52am EST: Kevin Weekes of the NHL Network reports that the Edmonton Oilers are close to acquiring Dmitry Kulikov from the New Jersey Devils. Scratch off one potential depth defenceman option for the Leafs.
10:28am EST: TSN hockey insider Pierre Lebrun reports that the Kings and forward Alex Iafallo are working towards a contract extension. Iafallo is one of the top forwards on the trade market and the Leafs have been rumored to be interested in his services but that could be off the table soon.
10:15am EST: Craig Custance of The Athletic reports that Philadelphia Flyers forward Scott Laughton is drawing interest around the league with the Flyers still weighing whether to sign or trade him.
10:14am EST: St. Louis Blues reporter Andy Strickland is hearing that Anaheim is shopping Rickard Rakell and Josh Manson, perhaps as a package deal. The price appears to be high and the Leafs would have to move out significant money to get involved.
10:00am EST: With the Leafs rumored to be interested in adding a depth defenceman, ESPN hockey reporter Emily Kaplan says to keep an eye on players like Dmitry Kulikov, Michael Del Zotto, and Jamie Oleksiak.
9:40am EST: Sportsnet hockey insider Chris Johnston says on SN590 that the Leafs aren’t done dealing and he believes they are in the market for a depth defenceman.
9:34am EST: Aaron Portzline of The Athletic believes that Michael Del Zotto will be traded before the deadline. Del Zotto could be an interesting veteran, depth option on the blue line for the Leafs.
