Last season Bobby McMann had the rarest of moments as he scored his first NHL goal only to have it called back. This time it is going to count and McMann‘s first gave Toronto a 3-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
Assists go to Tyler Bertuzzi and Pontus Holmberg, two players who are also equally excited to get on the scoresheet. The amount of chaos and grinding required to score the goal is very fitting on McMann and speaks to what both he and Pontus Holmberg can potentially bring to the Maple Leafs fourth line this year and in the future.
The puck has made its way to Bobby Hastings so it’s official.
Bobby McMann needed 17 games and 32 shots to get his moment. The 27 year old has fought hard to get his shot in the NHL and has been making the most of it since Kyle Dubas signed him to his entry level contract. Scoring against Dubas’ new team seems somewhat fitting.
