Nearly two months after the Vancouver Canucks loaned forward Sam Gagner to the AHL’s Toronto Marlies, the 770 game NHL veteran is heading back to the west coast after being recalled by the big club this afternoon.
The Canucks inked Gagner to a three-year $9,450,000 contract ($3,150,000 AAV) ahead of the 2017-2018 season.
Gagner, 29, suited up for 15 games with the Marlies this season. The London, ONT., native recorded 15 points (7G, 8A) through that span. Four of Gagner’s seven goals came on the man-advantage.
Despite being third in the Pacific division, the Canucks only average 3.00 goals per game (T-18th)
