One day after the Toronto Maple Leafs placed Martin Marincin on the waiver-wire, the 26-year-old defenceman cleared waivers and was subsequently loaned to the Toronto Marlies (AHL).
The transaction comes days after the acquisition of Jake Muzzin, which gave the Maple Leafs nine defenceman.
Adding Marincin to the Marlies fold gives the Leafs’ AHL affiliate seven veteran players. The AHL restricts teams from playing more than five veterans (players that have played over 250 professional games) in a game. Marincin, alongside Justin Holl, formed a dynamite top-pairing for the Marlies during their 2018 Calder Cup Run.
Marincin suited up for 10 contests with the Leafs this season and added two assists in the process.
