How Swede it is.
It appears that defenseman Timothy Liljegren will be staying in North America, at least for now. Liljegren was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs with the 17th selection in the first round of the 2017 NHL Draft.
Liljegren was considered one of the top prospects in all of hockey before a bout with mononucleosis saw his stock take a turn for the worse during the 2017 draft.
On an already packed team, it was always going to be tough for Liljegren to make the Maple Leafs. Liljegren joining the Toronto Marlies lets him play close to the main club. Whether or not that will be beneficial for his development remains to be seen.
