There may be a roster freeze but that doesn’t mean a tiny bit of action can’t happen.
The Toronto Maple Leafs loaned Kasperi Kapanen to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League (AHL). The move has been common all over the league as different teams try to adjust their lineup for after the roster freeze and ensure players get ice time.
Kapanen has played in six games this season for the Maple Leafs. He has zero goals and two assists in those games. At even strength, Kapanen has posted a 50% CF putting him -3.6% relative to the team. Kapanen has also averaged around 10:50 in ice time while called up.
In 16 games for the Marlies, Kapanen has eight goals and four assists for 12 points total on the season. The Marlies play today on Boxing day against the Belleville Senators.
