Frank Seravalli doesn’t think anything’s close between the Leafs & Flames on the trade front: Leafs Morning Take

They may be overseas right now, but as per usual, it sounds like that hasn’t stopped Brad Treliving from sniffing around on the trade front.
Make no mistake about it, according to multiple reports, the Leafs are actively looking for help on the back-end. That said, contrary to popular believe, it doesn’t sound like anything’s close.
Even though the Friday edition of Leafs Morning Take acted as an all-encompassing preview for Friday’s Leafs/Red Wings tilt in Stockholm, there was plenty of evergreen news to come from the show.
Brough to you by SOBER CARPENTER, Frank Seravalli, who’s in Sweden for the NHL Global Series, stopped by a for a scene setter. In addition to previewing Toronto’s two games, we did dive into both William Nylander and the whole Calgary Flames situation.

Furthermore, this is what Seravalli had to say when I prompted him about the Nikita Zadorov trade request and Toronto’s obvious interest:
“Unless they’ve done a really good job hiding it, I don’t believe they have anything cooking. And more than that, I think Calgary – from sources close to the situation – they thought there might be more interest or – and I don’t want to say interest – the phone’s ringing, but like significant, something that’s going to make you think let’s have a real conversation here about Nikita Zadorov afer the trade request became public.”
At any rate, please make a note to join us on Monday at 11 AM ET for a full recap of Toronto’s two Global Series contests. Lost in the shuffle of Nylander-mania in Sweden is the importance of these games for the Maple Leafs. Additionally, it’s quite clear that they may be looking to make a deal for a blueliner sooner rather than later, so plenty to monitor —for sure.
