Buckle up, the next two weeks figure to be a very busy time in Toronto.
Flanked by guest co-host Carter Hutton, we kicked off the Monday edition of Leafs Morning Take by tackling Vegas’ Stanley Cup parade. And most specifically, William Karlsson, who unequivocally was the MVP of the festivities. In case you missed it, he was IN ONE.
Meantime, it sounds like the Leafs are trying to go eight years with Auston Matthews. Now, obviously that’s easier said than done, but at the very least, it sounds like there’s a lot of optimism and positivity surrounding the situation in general. Remember the doom and gloom when Kyle Dubas was canned? Brad Treliving has weathered the storm.

Also, we touched on the very latest regarding Luke Schenn. By the sounds of it, the Leafs and Schenn are not close in extension talks. Personally, I expect this one to come down to the wire. If the two-time Stanley Cup champ does get to July 1, rest assured, there will be a plethora of teams interested in his services. I love what he brings to the table, especially in the playoffs.
Meantime, on Friday afternoon, the Vancouver Canucks surprisingly bought out D Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Could he make sense in Toronto? Well, there’s a relationship there with both Shane Doan and Brad Treliving. Hmm.
After that, we welcomed in Hutts’ former partner in Buffalo: Linus Ullmark. Indisputably, the Bruins netminder is widely considered the Vezina Trophy frontrunner ahead of next Monday’s NHL Awards in Nashville. He was a fun interview.

Piggybacking off that, for the Betano Wrap Up, we handicapped the three finalists for this year’s Vezina. Yeah, I would be shocked if it doesn’t go to Ullmark.
Jay Rosehill will be back in the mix on Tuesday at 11 AM ET. We’ll talk then!
