It appears that Nick Robertson will play his first game tomorrow since suffering a broken leg back in October.
The 20-year-old returned to full contact on Sunday and has been working his way up since.
“He looked good again today,” said Marlies head coach Greg Moore after Tuesday’s practice, “so it’s expected he’ll be in the game tomorrow.”
During Tuesday’s practice at Coca-Cola Coliseum, Robertson was skating on a line with Semyon Der-Arguchintsev and Joseph Blandisi. He skated with the two on Monday as well, so the expectation is that he will play with them on Wednesday night.
If Robertson does in fact play, this is where he slots in on the Marlies power play.
The 20-year-old moved back-and-forth between the centre and right side — both of which will make good use of Robertson’s highly-patented shot.
I wouldn’t be too quick to consider the second set of players as an actual second power play unit, as both are pretty balanced in terms of skill. It’s a 1A, 1B situation, with Robertson slotting in the 1B spot.
Toronto has a back-to-back on Wednesday and Thursday, first taking on the Grand Rapids Griffins and then the Cleveland Monsters. They return home to play at Coca-Cola Coliseum on Saturday.
