Another light week for the Maple Leafs.
Honestly, this season’s schedule has been brutal thus far. I want to see this team play some games!
At any rate, Jay Rosehill was back in the mix for the Tuesday edition of Leafs Morning Take. We kicked off the show by discussing all the charity work that the Leafs do in the city. The conversation stemmed from Auston Matthews’ cameo appearance in the new SickKids holiday campaign ad. It’s not spoken about a lot but the team continues to make a big-time difference in the community. Kudos to them!
Presented by Door Dash, The Appetizer focused on some of the news from Monday coming out of the Board of Governors meetings in Seattle. We discussed expansion. There’s too much money to be made. It will happen against in the new few years. Meantime, we also discussed the growing salary cap and what next year’s projected $4.2-million increase could mean for a team like the Maple Leafs. Believe it or not, I think that could go a long way in helping the team out when it comes to William Nylander. It continues to be very quiet on that front. By the way, Brendan Shanahan spoke at the B.O.G, but as per usual, he didn’t say much of anything.

Additionally, thanks to Charm Diamond Centres, I caught up with Rosey on some of the latest things making headlines in Leafs Nation. Most notably, I got his opinion on the whole John Tavares OT backcheck situation. Somewhat predictably, he didn’t read too much into it. Alright, we move on.
Lastly, we touched quickly on Toronto’s rapidly improving penalty kill. Over the past 10 outings, the Leafs PK has been a top-10 fixture in the NHL. More of that, please.
Join us on Wednesday at 11 AM ET as we continue to preview the upcoming slate for the Maple Leafs.
